So rumor has it that Microsoft has been working on a cross-platform version of Xbox Live. Microsoft states that changes will “enable game developers to connect players between iOS, Android, and Switch in addition to Xbox and any game in the Microsoft Store on Windows PCs.” So what does this mean exactly? Will we be able to play Xbox games on the Switch? The short answer is no, however while we wont be able to actually play Xbox games on the Switch we will be able to access Xbox Live features on the Switch and Mobile.
Features such as friends lists, achievements, and clubs will be available on non Xbox devices. While this isn’t anything revolutionary or even new it does provide some possibilities into what may happen in the future. One of the biggest changes would be expanding the fan base to a much larger audience. As for what Microsoft will do with this audience only time will tell.
