Last Friday, Universal delayed releases of No Time to Die and F9 until 2021. The chain reaction now continues as other studios follow suit. Warner Bros just rescheduled a whole bunch of their upcoming movies. The first in line: Dennis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sci-fi movie Dune. Initially set for a release on December 18, 2020, it will presently come out on October 1, 2021.
But that’s not all. Dune’s new release date previously belonged to Matt Reeves’ equally anticipated The Batman. The studio has now postponed it an additional six months, from October 1, 2021, to March 4, 2022. Other Warner Bros. superhero movies will suffer a similar fate. The Flash is coming out on November 4, 2022. Shazam 2 was pushed to June 2, 2023. Meanwhile, Black Adam – set for December 22, 2021 release – disappeared from the release schedule entirely.
Matrix 4 is the only film on this list that’s actually coming out earlier than before. Lana Wachowski’s sequel/reboot is set for release on December 22, 2021, instead of April 1, 2022.
