I don’t know what it is but I’ve never been interested in Hindi Cinema. This is going to sound horrible…but I’ve always found the stuff I’ve tried to watch childishly amateurish? I know, terrible. These are adults making these films which I hear is a fairly large industry down there…but I have to tell the truth. That’s just the way I am. I tried tuning into some superhero flick awhile back and it was so comically inept…it felt like someone just learned about this thing called a movie a few months prior and decided to do one without any comprehension of what made a one…good. Okay, I’m going to stop bashing, I truly think it’s just a matter of not coming across the right director, writer, and property.
I hope.
I saw some stills of this new film Pari starring Anushka Sharma, which turns out is a woman. Apparently she is one of the highest-paid actresses in India. I guess that means she can act, right? The film is directed by a guy/kid named Prosit Roy…who looks to have only directed a TV mini-series called Tanlines before this. I guess that’s a topic of discussion in India worthy of a mini-series. Anywho, I’m a horror whore so I’ll give a green, big-headed, Alien film a go if it looked like it might be good.
So let’s take a look at the trailer.
Hmn, well it’s ‘shot’ well. Looks professional in that regard, which is a plus. Sharma’s acting looks passable enough. I didn’t really get any sense of terror or fear though. Eh, gonna toss it in the ‘maybe’ column.
Pari starring Anushka Sharma and Karnes Sharma open tomorrow in Indonesia. Get your plane tickets now! Or not.
