Deadline reports that multiple Academy Awards winner Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for coronavirus. They are both currently in Australia, where Hanks was working on Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic. The famous actor issued a public statement declaring both him and Wilson will follow medical protocols and stay isolated as long as necessary. This news arrived hours after the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic.
Growing fears about COVID-19 have led to postponement or downright cancellation of various events. As we reported earlier, the release of the latest James Bond movie No Time to Die has been changed from April 10 to November 25. Sony shifted the world premiere of Peter Rabbit 2 from April 3 to August 7. Filming of the next Mission: Impossible film in Venice was postponed as well as the production of TV shows like Riverdale and Survivor. Media festivals like SXSW and E3 video came conference have been canceled while NBA has suspended its season. As for cinemas, they have been either partially or completely closed in the Czech Republic, France, Iran, Italy, India, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Poland.
