The Cast of Gary Dauberman’s ‘Salem’s Lot Movie Announced

It’s been over a year since we last reported about the feature film adaptation of ‘Salem’s Lot – Stephen King’s 1975 horror novel about vampires terrorizing a small New England town. Fourteen months and one global pandemic later, the project seems to be coming to life again. According to an article on BloodyDisgusting, Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale, The Strangers: Prey at Night) will portray the lead character – author Ben Mears, who returns to his hometown only to unearth a sinister vampire conspiracy. So far, other cast members include Bill Camp (The Outsider, The Queen’s Gambit), Makenzie Leigh (Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, The Assistant), and Spencer Treat Clark (Animal Kingdom, Glass).

‘Salem’s Lot will be directed by Gary Dauberman, who is familiar both with horror (The Nun, Annabelle Comes Home) and Stephen King adaptations (It, It: Chapter II). Dauberman will also provide the script adapting the novel that has already been adapted twice, albeit only as limited TV series. Tobe Hooper directed the first one back in 1979. A second TV adaptation came out in 2004 and featured, among others, Andre Braugher (Brooklyn 99), James Cromwell (Star Trek: First Contact), Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner), and Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation).

Filmmaker James Wan will produce this adaptation. Over the past two decades, Wan made a name for himself by writing, directing, and producing a series of highly successful horror franchises like Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring.
