Paramount has released the ‘official’ trailer for Tim Miller’s crack at the Terminator franchise Terminator: Dark Fate. Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger return to pass the torch to newcomers Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes as they seek to escape a dark fate a the hands of the latest Terminator played by Gabriel Luna.
The more I see the more I don’t like. This isn’t just because Tim Miller is a world class nozzle. It’s the choices that were made in this film, I find them all poorly made. Take for instance the scene were Davis’s character (Grace) wakes up with Sarah Connor pointing a gun and asking her to explain herself. There are at least two different ways to handle this scene that a) maintains Sarah Connor’s dignity b) shows that Grace is a badass. 1. She could have played it smooth and unfazed and calmly spoke with Sarah, displaying some charm. 2. She could have quickly snatched Sarah’s weapon away from her, put some distance between the two, unloaded the weapon and said something pithy, then explain herself to Sarah. These two options accomplish A and B and have the added bonus of making the Grace character more likeable. Miller chooses option c) slam Sarah Connor against the wall like some perp or a jailhouse prison wife. Terrible decision. Some towering butch creature roughing up an old woman, especially if that woman is Sarah Connor doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy towards you it makes me want to spit on you. The dialogue is bad, the action is gimmicky, I was intending on reviewing this but I can’t honestly say this is worth wasting the bandwidth to bootleg it.Toruk's Take
