Tatiana Maslany’s to Become She-Hulk; Ms. Marvel Gets Directors

Not to be outdone by DC, here is some good news in Marvel Comics Camp as well! Tatiana Maslany has just signed on as a lead in the upcoming TV series She-Hulk. Simultaneously, the TV series Ms. Marvel got new directors – Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, fresh from the success of Bad Boys for Life.

Canadian actress Maslany more than proved her acting chops in the sci-fi show Orphan Black. There, she portrayed at least five distinct characters/clones and rightfully won a Primetime Emmy for her performances. Most recently, Maslany appeared in HBO’s noir series Perry Mason. Now, the AVClub reports she will play Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who gains an ability to Hulk-out after receiving a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner. The show’s chief writer is Emmy Award-winning Jessica Gao (Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken and Silicon Valley) with Kat Coiro (Shameless, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) as its director.

And speaking of directors, Ms. Marvel just got two of them. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah took over from Michael Bay to direct Bad Boys for Life. Due to shutdowns, this action-comedy featuring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has a decent chance of becoming the most financially successful movie of the year. Disney hired the filmmaking duo to direct episodes of the upcoming superhero TV series Ms. Marvel. This is a story about Kamala Khan, a Pakistani American teenager from Jersey who starts as a superhero fan, gains superpowers, and joins Avengers. The impressive crew behind the camera includes Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (winner of an Academy Award for her 2012 documentary Saving Face) as well as Meera Menon (Titans, The Punisher, The Walking Dead).
