It would seem Sony’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’s success is not just limited to the box office as the film has won the Golden Globe for top animated film of 2018, being praised for its unique comic-inspired CGI animation.
The film stars Shameik Moore playing the voice of Miles Morales: an Afro-Latino teenager, set in an alternate universe than the original Spider-man and was directed by the trio Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman.
The award was accepted by producer and co-writer Phil Lord, tasked with creating a new modern animation process with the film. Ecstatic with their victory, Lord was left asking if the moment was “in an alternate universe”. Peter Ramsey also chimed in to add they wanted to make a movie where “anybody can be behind the mask”.
