Yikes. This Snowpiercer show is looking more and more like a dumpster fire. Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter , director Scott Derrickson (Deliver Us From Evil (2014), Doctor Strange (2016) who was brought on to helm the series pilot, says he is done with the show and won’t return to the reshoots ordered by new showrunner Graeme Manson. Let’s hear it from the horses mouth:
“The 72-page Snowpiercer TV pilot script by @Josh_Friedman is the best I’ve ever read. The feature-length pilot I made from that script may be my best work. The new showrunner has a radically different vision for the show. I am forgoing my option to direct the extreme reshoots”
Wow. This translates to ‘I don’t want anything to do with this guy’s trash vision’. This is not the first time new showrunner Graeme has been blasted, in May, Josh Friedman layed into him because he didn’t reach out to him after he took over his position:
“If you’re asked to rewrite someone or take over their show it seems like good sense and good karma to reach out to that person first and a) find out what the circumstances of their departure are and b) thank them for doing the work you’ll be profiting from. You should buy that person a nice meal or a bottle of alcohol if they’re up for it. Your money was earmarked for them at one time. And more than likely, what may be a good job for you was a passion project for them…Put another way: if you were to take over a show I’d originated and worked on for two years and didn’t reach out to me before taking the job you’re either an idiot, a coward, or a vichy motherfucker.”
Tell us how you really feel, Josh! This does not look good, two talented people running from this guy doesn’t look good from a creative standpoint. Either this is toxic or they are toxic and the evidence is pointing in toward him. My interest in this series has plummeted through the floorboards and smashed the old ironing in the dusty basement.
