Ryan Reynolds Confirms Deadpool 3 in the Works

In his recent appearance on a daily talk show on ABC, Ryan Reynolds confirmed that Marvel Studios are working on the third Deadpool movie. SlashFilm speculates that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writing duo behind the first two movies, will most likely work on the third one as well. Beyond that, however, details are scarce. Hopefully, this new might assuage the fans of this foul-mouthed, fast-talking anti-hero. After Disney bought 20th Century Fox, fans rightly worried that the squeaky-clean and image-conscious entertainment corporation might decide to drop this franchise.

Based on the popular Marvel Comics character created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld in the early 1990s, Deadpool is most famous – or notorious – because of his frequent breaking of the fourth wall. The movie adaptation spent years in development hell despite being championed by Ryan Reynolds, who first portrayed the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In 2014 20th Century finally decided to risk its money on the project. Two years later Deadpool swaggered into cinemas in all of its R-rated glory. With its combination of cheerful vulgarity and meta humor, this superhero film quickly became a box office success, grossing over $780 million on a $58 million production budget. Deadpool 2 followed two years later and successfully repeated the first movie’s success.
