So Ruby Rose has left Twitter.
I had my opinions about the Ruby Rose casting for the CW’s Batwoman series. Largely, they dealt with using Identity Politics as a metric for casting choices…also, that I didn’t think Ruby Rose was a good actress. This isn’t to say I don’t think the woman should be barred from acting, I just felt that a series like Batwoman would probably need all the help it can get to be successful…and a poor actress wasn’t one of them.
However, it seems that the radical left is even stranger than I could have imagined and that apparently, to many of them, Ruby Rose isn’t Gay enough for the role. Let’s hear it from Ruby herself:
“Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be batwoman’ come from — has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with ‘she’s too gay’ how do y’all flip it like that? I didn’t change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys.”
“When women and when minorities join forces we are unstoppable… when we tear each other down it’s much more hurtful than from any group. But hey/ love a challenge I just wish women and the LGBT community supported each other more, My wish was we were all a little kinder and more supportive of each other…Sending everyone my love and gratitude, it’s been a rollercoaster of a year, this month especially.”
“I am looking forward to getting more than 4 hours of sleep and to break from Twitter to focus all my energy on my next 2 projects. If you need me, I’ll be on my Bat Phone.”
The left continues to eat its own. I don’t frequent Twitter so I can only imagine that their complaint is that she isn’t “butch” enough. I suppose a husky, hairy, man-like Batwoman is what they are demanding.
Good luck with that.
I wonder if this project will go down in flames like the Scarlett Johansson Rub and Tug fiasco. It’s silliness like this that makes me want to root for Ruby….if I were the paranoid type I’d say that was the point of this whole exercise in the first place.
