Paramount is reshuffling its list of upcoming releases. Deadline says Mission: Impossible 7 will now come out on November 19, 2021, instead of July 23, 2021. Mission: Impossible 8 will open on November 4, 2022, instead of August 5, 2022. Furthermore, Paramount rescheduled its sci-fi action movie The Tomorrow War starring Chris Pratt from its original release date – December 25, 2020 – to July 23, 2021. Finally, the studio’s reboot of the Dungeons & Dragons movie originally set for a release on November 19, 2021, was pushed back until May 27, 2022.
Paramount and Skydance’s Mission: Impossible 7 was arguably the first significant film production severely affected by the coronavirus outbreak. The filming was set to begin in Venice when the pandemic struck Italy in March, halting the production completely. Since then, the pandemic caused the closing of cinemas both in the US and abroad as well as halting productions and postponing new releases by the leading studios like Disney, Sony, and Warner Bros.
