Stockholm is based on a true story about Jan-Erik “Janne” Olsson and his friend Clark Olofsson and their attempted bank robbery in 1973 Stockholm Sweden. Jan-Erik Olsson held up a bank for 5 days along with taking several female bank tellers captive. He also demanded that the police bring his long-term friend in, the police only agreed as they thought that his friend might be a good link for communication between the two. As his demands became more and more outrageous and it seemed that his female captives started to sympathize with a their captors the police ended up having to take more drastic measures.
