HBO announced new casting for its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. According to the SlashFilm, these include Eve Best (Fate: The Winx Saga), Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man), Sonoya Mizuno (Devs), and Steve Toussaint (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time).
Eve Best will portray Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, who was passed over as an heir to the throne because the realm favored her cousin Viserys for being a man. Ifans will play Otto Hightower, the loyal Hand of the King. Mizuno will depict Mysaria, a foreigner who arrives in Westeros with nothing and grows to become the most trusted ally of Prince Daemon Targaryen. Finally, Steve Toussaint will play Lord Corlys Velaryon, aka The Sea Snake, who increased his family’s wealth and power and built the largest navy in the world.
All these newcomers will be joining previously announced actors that include Paddy Considine (The Outsider), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Olivia Cooke, and Matt Smith. At the moment, HBO is reportedly developing a second Game of Thrones prequel based on Dunk and Egg stories by George R. R. Martin, set a century before the events of the show. Furthermore, HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys recently teased the possibility of Game of Thrones spinoffs set after the events of the original show.
