CBS All Access plans to start development on a standalone Star Trek: Discovery spin-off series is officially underway. The series will star Michelle Yeoh reprising her role of Philippa Georgiou, a member of Section 31, an intelligence agent operating within the Federation. Yeoh, is also set to appear in the second season of Discovery, which will debut this Thursday on All Access. While most recently starring in the blockbuster film Crazy Rich Asians Yeoh is known for her roles in films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 1 and 2, Memoirs Of A Geisha, the James Bond Film: Tomorrow Never Dies, and Sunshine.
The new series will be written by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt and produced by CBS Studios. Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment.

Yeoh had this to say regarding her work on the series “I’m so excited to continue telling these rich ‘Star Trek’ stories”. “Being a part of this universe and this character specifically has been such a joy for me to play. I can’t wait to see where it all goes – certainly I believe it will go ‘where no WOMAN has ever gone before!’”
