With the recent crash and burn of Terminator: Dark Fate and Charlie’s Angels you would think that Hollywood would get the hint and try to pump out something…fresh. You would be wrong. MGM has recruited budding filmmaker Abe Forsythe (Little Monsters) to become the latest director to fall on the sword of mediocrity and try to bring about yet another Robocop reboot.
Yes, yes, they say that this is a direct follow-up to the 1987 original. This new gimmick by Hollywood of trying to erase or write-over certain sequels like a hard-drive is already old and blazingly transparent.
1. Nobody is buying that this isn’t a reboot/remake.
2. Robocop 2 was actually pretty darn good so you just pissed off a whole host of fans. One of them being me.
Forsythe will be rewriting a script that was originally penned by Justin Rhodes. Oh wait what’s this….the same Justin Rhodes who recently worked on the script for Terminator: Dark Fate? Small world.
I’d be rewriting the script if it came from him too, the question is, will what Forsythe comes up with be any better?
Unlikely.
