Marvel’s WandaVision Gets a New Release Date

GeekTyrant reports Marvel’s limited superhero series WandaVision finally has an official release date – January 15th, 2021. It focuses on Wanda Maximoff (played here, as in the movies, by Elizabeth Olsen) and her partner Vision (Paul Bettany) living idyllic suburban lives. However, their reality consists of old sitcom tropes. The show will also feature Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms) as a noisy neighbor who may be more than she seems, while Teyonah Parris (Dear White People) will portray an adult version of Monica Rambeau (first introduced in Captain Marvel). Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel) is the showrunner, with Matt Shakman (Game of Thrones, Fargo) as director.

It has been a long ride for WandaVision. Disney first announced it in September 2018, along with Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. In August 2019, Disney added new shows to the lineup – Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was to come out in August, while WandaVision, initially slated for a 2021 release, was pushed forward to 2020.

And then the pandemic happened, forcing studios to shuffle their release dates. The production of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was halted in Prague this summer due to COVID-19. Disney has now postponed its release until sometime next year. As for WandaVision, it is now once again set to come out in January 2021.
