Just as Disney Plus streamed the final episode of The Falcon and Winter Soldier last Friday, Marvel announced plans for a fourth Captain America movie. Malcolm Spellman – the showrunner of this latest Marvel limited series – has been picked to develop the project and co-write the script with Dalan Musson, one of the show’s writers. Spellman previously helped produce the long-running TV drama Empire, while Musson was one of the writers on the sci-fi comedy Iron Sky: The Coming Race.
Considering the events of the series, we can probably expect to see most of the show’s cast returning for Captain America 4. Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes are a given. As for Emily Van Camp’s Sharon Carter, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, and Julia Lewis-Dreyfus’s Val, they seem poised to return, either as supporting characters or villains.
At the moment, there’s no information about the possible director. In case you’re wondering, Kari Skogland directed all episodes of The Falcon and Winter Soldier. A TV veteran, she worked on numerous genre shows, including NOS4A2, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Punisher, and The Walking Dead. Maybe Marvel hires her as well?
