GeekTyrant reports that Netflix just released the first teaser poster for its upcoming horror TV series Locke & Key. The show is based on the critically acclaimed comic book by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez and will première on February 7, 2020. Locke & Key tells a story about three Locke siblings: Bode (Jackson Robert Scott – IT), Kinsey (Emilia Jones – Horrible Histories) and Tyler (Connor Jessup – Falling Skies). After the brutal murder of their father, the family moves to their ancient New England manor. There, Locke’s kids discover mysterious magical keys that unlock increasingly unusual powers. But a demon wants these keys for its sinister plans and it will stop at nothing to get them.
IDW Publishing first published Locke & Key in 2008. Since then, this comic book series won an Eisner Award and two British Fantasy Awards. In 2010 Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, producers of the TV series Fringe, shot a pilot episode of Locke & Key for Fox. The network chose to pass the project. Years later, streaming service Hulu expressed interest in adapting this critically acclaimed series for television. However, well into the show’s production, Hulu suddenly lost interest. But then Netflix stepped in and picked up the project. Samll wonder that: Locke & Key is precisely the genre fare that this streaming network specializes in. Frankly, I’m looking forward to it.
