Back in May we reported on the Swamp Thing series in the works for the DC Universe digital service. Len Wiseman (The Underworld Series) will executive produce the series and direct the first episode. This project falls under the umbrella of Wiseman’s current deal with WBTV to develop, produce and direct projects for the studio.
Wiseman has been busy as an executive producer for shows like The Gifted, Sleepy Hollow, and Lucifer. James Wan’s Atomic Monster will be producing in association with Warner Bros. Television. Slated premiere date for the series on the DC Universe is sometime in 2019.
Deadline’s synopsis of the show:
“Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.”

I haven’t seen any of the shows Wiseman has executive produced but clearly this company has a lot of faith in him. Regarding the DC Universe digital service…the only comic associated subscription service I’d be willing to sign up for these days would be one created by Comicsgaters. I just don’t like the direction the big two are going…it’s time for more options.
