Bloody.Disgusting reports that Jared Harris and Lee Pace have just signed on with Apple+ to star in its TV series adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s science fiction novel Foundation. Its story takes place in a distant future where a brilliant scientist named Hari Seldon comes up with a way to scientifically predict the future. Harris will portray Seldon while Pace will play Brother Day, the ruler of the Galactic Empire whose collapse Seldon predicts.
Jared Harris is a BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated actor. He appeared on TV shows such as Carnival Row, Chernobyl, Fringe, Mad Men and The Terror. Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Lee Pace starred in TV series Halt and Catch Fire. He also played villainous Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy.
While Asimov’s Foundation novels remain influential, critics consider them unfilmable. Last April we reported that screenwriter and producer David S. Goyer will try to prove otherwise. Goyer worked on everything from Kickboxer 2 to Batman Begins. Screenwriter Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds) will help him try to bring Asimov’s galactic vision to Apple+. As for the quality of their collaboration, we’ll have to wait and see.
