Jamie Foxx (Baby Driver, Ray) will hunt vampires by night in the upcoming Netflix movie Day Shift. BloodyDisgusting says the film will be directed by JJ Perry, who worked as a stunt coordinator and second unit director on action movies like John Wick: Chapter 2, Fast & Furious 9, and The Fate of the Furious. Chad Stahelski — director of John Wick, who also used to work as stunt coordinator — will be one of the producers. Day Shift is based on a script by Tyler Tice that won Slamdance Writing Competition. It was later reworked by yet another John Wick alumnus – Shay Hatten, who wrote the third film in that franchise.
In the film, Foxx will portray a single father of an eight-year-old girl who works as a pool cleaner in the San Fernando Valley. By night, however, he moonlights as a vampire hunter. co-producer Shaun Redick described the film as “a pulse-pounding thrill ride with action, danger and grounded comedy mixed with a deep mythology.” Jamie Foxx recently collaborated with Netflix on the superhero movie Project Power alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Dark Knight Rises). Beside Day Shift, Foxx will also co-star and co-produce the upcoming film They Cloned Tyrone as well as the TV show Dad Stop Embarrassing Me.
