SlashFilm reports production of the fifth Indiana Jones film will begin this month in Pinewood Studios and other locations in Great Britain. Harrison Ford will return one final time as the archaeologist adventurer Dr. Henry Jones Jr. Other members of the cast will include Boyd Holbrook (Narcos), Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong), Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), and Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther). There are currently no details about the movie’s plot.
There have been speculations about the fifth Indiana Jones film ever since the fourth one – Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – came out in 2008. The project remained in development hell for over a decade. In March 2020, just after Ford himself announced the film would start shooting soon, the COVID-19 pandemic halted productions all over the world. In 2020, we learned Steven Spielberg won’t return as a director, which isn’t exactly a good sign. Instead, James Mangold (Ford v Ferrari, Logan) will direct the film. He will also work on the script alongside Jez and John-Henry Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow, Fair Game). Spielberg will remain among producers, along with Simon Emanuel, Kathleen Kennedy, and Frank Marshall.
The fifth Indiana Jones movie should come out on July 29, 2022.
