Hiroyuki Sanada (Mortal Kombat, Westworld) has joined the upcoming fourth John Wick movie, says GeekTyrant. The film cast already includes Shamier Anderson (Stowaway, Wynonna Earp), Bill Skarsgård (Castle Rock, It, It: Chapter Two), Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and singer Rina Sawayama. John Wick 4 will also feature Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick reprising their performances from earlier movies. Former stuntman Chad Stahelski – who directed the first three John Wick films – will helm this sequel, too. Michael Finch (Predators) and Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) penned the script.
Lionsgate studio officially announced the fourth John Wick movie during John Wick 3’s opening week. The official release date was May 21, 2021. However, due to Stahelski working on The Matrix 4, the shoot had to be postponed. Next came the COVID-19 pandemic, causing yet another production delay. In addition, it disrupted initial plans for filming two sequels – fourth and fifth – back-to-back. Production of John Wick 4 should start this June in Paris and Berlin. Accordingly, the studio pushed the original release date for a year – until May 27, 2022.
