This isn’t the first time Godzilla has been animated and it sure as hell won’t be the last. I think the mix of CGI and traditional hand-drawn is handled extremely well (Much like it was in 2004’s Appleseed)…with everything but Godzilla. At least that’s how it appears in what little I’ve seen in this trailer. I hope the big girl looks a lot better in other shots, but we’ll see. I think the CGI works more effectively on robotic entities as opposed to organic…but what the hell do I know.
The film is directed by Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan) and the animation is produced by Polygon Pictures. The film is set to be the first of a trilogy.
Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters…or Godzilla: Monster Planet will be stomping its way onto Netflix November 17.
