Another Comic-con trailer, this one for the Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
‘Long live the king.’
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. It looks very human-heavy…while at the same time looking pretty monster-heavy as well, which implies there will be a balance. The whole ‘humans are a disease’ riff is getting pretty dated so that’s a negative…but, to be fair, it isn’t something that is absent from the original Godzilla movies. I just hope they manage to squeeze in a ‘okay, humans don’t completely suck’ acknowledgment in this flick otherwise I can easily see myself turning against it.
The classical music (Clair de lune, by Claude Debussy) and soft tone of the trailer was an interesting choice juxtaposed with the creature-feature imagery. Trailer gets a thumbs up. Here’s hoping the film delivers on its promise.
