GLASS Official Trailer #2

McAvoy, Jackson and Willis all look like they are having fun, but will it transfer over to the audience? Am I the only one who thinks the ‘beast’ persona should be more, umm….beasty? I guess when Shyamalan was doing Split (2016) he felt that would be too ‘over the top’. My concern, however, is that it simply won’t be enough of a spectacle in the film.

We just saw Thanos trash the Incredible Hulk for crying out loud. Audiences have grown accustomed to super-powered smackdowns. Seeing Bruce Willis getting thrown around by a 6′ 7″ 300lb+ pound hairy…thing or seeing him being thrown around by a grimacing James McAvoy?

Decisions, decisions.

Yes, there are ways to tell a great superhero story at a smaller power scale, plenty of ways, but does M. Knight have that ability?

I suspect Jackson’s Mr. Glass will likely come out with the better of the performances. He’s playing a fairly low-key character and there’s not much he can mess up. He pretty much gets to sit in his wheelchair and return some pithy banter while the other guys do the heavy lifting by trying not to make their characters (and themselves) look ridiculous. After watching these trailers I’m going to have to re-watch Unbreakable to see if I can remember what I thought was so dang good about it.

Man, for Shyamalan’s sake I hope this movie doesn’t blow chunks. I don’t think his career can take another hit like it did before.
