According to The Wrap both Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants are being pushed to later dates. Dark Phoenix is now scheduled for a February 14, 2019 release while The New Mutants is pushed back to August 2, 2019. This isn’t the first time the New Mutants has been moved, a film that has undergone a host of reshoots and story adjustments since its inception. Fox’s first attempt at the Phoenix saga was downright vomit inducing, what makes them think the same yahoo (Kinberg) who wrote that can do a better job the second time out is nothing short of mind boggling.
Frankly, I hope they kill both these projects. I despise Fox’s X-men on general principle and don’t wish to be subjected to the indignity of having my favorite superhero characters of all time once again butchered out on the public square.
But for now I will have to settle for a delay…which is enough to bring forth my dance of joy.
