Last week we reported that the shooting of Hawkeye has begun in New York, with Hailee Steinfeld (Dickinson, True Grit) as the next Hawkeye Kate Bishop. Thanks to SlashFilm, we learned she wasn’t the only new face in this upcoming limited TV series. Vera Farmiga (Source Code) and Florence Pugh (Little Women) were cast in this show too.
Farmiga will portray Kate’s mother Eleanor. Pugh will play Russian assassin Yelena Belova, who will become the new Black Widow after Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff died in Avengers: Endgame. Pugh’s character was supposed to first appear in the Black Widow movie this May, but then the studio postponed it due to COVID. With the way things are right now, we might get the TV series before the movie even comes out. Admittedly, we are exaggerating, but not by much.
Other new cast members of Hawkeye include Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka Echo – a deaf superhero that can accurately mimic her opponent’s fighting moves, making her a formidable martial artist. Then there is Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul) as Jack Duquesne aka Swordsman and Zahn McClarnon (Fargo, Westworld) as Maya’s father Willie. Finally, Irish actor and singer and Fra Fee (Les Misérables) will play Kazi – better known as the Clown, a mercenary villain from Marvel Comics.
Hawkeye will premiere sometime next fall.
