Directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay from Elizabeth Martin, Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, Mulan is a live action adaptation based off of Disney’s 1998’s animated film of the same name. Mulan, of course, tells the story of a woman in China who takes the place of her father in the army during the Northern and Southern dynasties period (420-589).
Toruk's TakeProbably a wise move not to show Donnie Yen or Jet Li in the trailer. I imagine those guys could easily overshadow Yifei Liu if they aren’t careful. We have the obvious shrugging off of female expectations and we most assuredly are going to see a strong ‘I am woman and can do anything’ theme throughout. Doesn’t look obnoxious so far. That last line at the end was a bit of a dud so there could be some trouble in the dialogue department. It doesn’t work well in the trailer but perhaps the context is better in the film.
Mulan starring Yifei Liu ,Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, Jet Li is set to be released in March 27, 2020.
