Disney Finally Buys Fox in $71 Billion Deal

It has been a long time coming, but Disney and Fox are now officially under the same roof. Disney CEO Bob Iger thanked both parties for their cooperation highlighting that the real challenge has just begun in merging the two titans:

“the challenging work of uniting our businesses to create a dynamic, global entertainment company with the content, the platforms, and the reach to deliver industry-defining experiences that will engage consumers around the world for generations to come.”

These two companies have overlaps in the same positions so expect Fox to be getting the short end of the stick when it comes to layoffs in order to have a more cohesive company. With this merger Disney plans to build up it’s library on Disney+ with shows like The Simpsons, Modern Family, and This Is Us to compete with streaming powerhouses such as Netflix and Amazon.

Let’s not kid ourselves though, we all know that the biggest impact is on our spandex wearing heroes. Finally Marvel is whole again with X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool being brought in by Fox. I think Disney has the perfect atmosphere to finally help the FF shine on the big screen.
