My hope for the Disney company is that it goes bankrupt and crumbles off into the pitt of obscurity. I realize this is a long way off so for now I’ll have to take comfort and chuckle at its glacial decline instead. Disney has cast Halle Bailey ( who they say is a singer, I don’t know her work — because most music these days is horrible ) as Ariel in the live action remake of The Little Mermaid.
One might take notice that Bailey poses little resemblance to Ariel from the 1989 animated film nor the original 1837 novel published by Danish author Hans Christian Anderson. I think it’s safe to say that Anderson didn’t have a girl of African descent in his minds eye when he envisioned the character. Disney of course has turned up the woke lever to full-throttle these days so we’re going to see a whole lot more of this in the future, especially in the MCU.
I would offer that it would be less of a slap-in-the-face to those people with high melanin if they took the time to create original brown or black characters instead of passing off greater artists hand-me-downs who are going to be viewed as lower-tier by even the most vapid SJW (Oh they’ll deny it…but deep down in their black hearts they know this to be true).
But that might actually make them a company worth keeping around, and as I said before, I want them gone. So, by all means Disney, as you were.
