Here is the official ‘official’ season 1 trailer…egads I miss the good ole days with just one bloody trailer.
Recap:
Created by René Echevarria (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Castle, The 4400) and Travis Beacham, Carnival Row is a neo-noir fantasy series coming to Amazon.
IMDB synopsis:
Toruk's Take“a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose rich homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing immigrant population struggles to coexist with humans in the grimiest section of the city — forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom.”
Was I the only one who started chuckling when they showed all the fairies (sorry ‘Faye’) hovering in that first scene? Okay, just checking. Umm…I have no faith that they are going to pull off this ‘refugee animosity’ thing with any sort of nuance. This film generation just doesn’t seem to have that gene. I expect heavy-handed and straw-man anti-immigration/other condemnations. I don’t know…I could be surprised. Outside of that it still looks sort of…meh. Despite the fantasy elements it smells of boredom.
Carnival Row starring Orlando Bloom, Cara Delevingne, David Gyasi, Tamzin Merchant,Andrew Gower,Karla Crome,Artemas Froushan,Caroline Ford,Indira Varma,Jared Harris,Simon McBurney,Alice Krige,Ariyon Bakare,Maeve Dermody,Jamie Harris,Scott Reid,Anna Rust and Sinead Phelps streams on Amazon August 30, 2019.
