Directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and DaCosta Candyman is a remake of the 1992 original film which was based off of Clive Barker’s short story “The Forbidden”.
1992’s Candyman directed by Bernard Rose is one of my favorite horror movies. The film is what I would consider a 5-star horror flick. Very rare to find one of those. The Ring (2002) is one. Hellraiser I and II are of course others. But for the most part, they are few and far between. I think Jordan Peele is a despicable, vile slug. He is one of the many self-hating half-breeds running around in Hollywood who lash out at their lighter brethren because something went horribly, horribly wrong during their fetal maturation. Out of all the kinds of racist on the planet creatures like Peele are the worst. I avoid anything he touches at all costs. This looks about as crappy as I thought it would be. Nothing says “scary” like a bunch of teenage girls staring into a high-school mirror on a bright sunny day. Whoever put this together knows next to nothing about how horror works. Unadulterated amateur hour. I thought the scariest thing I’d see in this trailer would be anti-white rhetoric. Lo and behold, I was completely mistaken. The scariest thing in this trailer is its wholesale incompetence.Toruk's Take
