Star Trek’s Brannon Braga will co-write and direct a movie adaptation of Clive Barker’s Books of Blood for Hulu. According to Deadline, streaming service just finalized a deal with Braga, who will also executive produce this horror film along with Seth McFarlane (The Orville). The movie comes out in fall 2020.
The movie adaptation of Books of Blood will consist out of three horror stories. First of them will follow a skeptic psychologist Anna Friel (Limitless). After losing a child to leukemia, she begins an affair with a man (Rafi Gavron – A Star Is Born) who claims he can communicate with her late son. In the second story, Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland) will play a young, hypersensitive woman who runs away from home to prevent being taken to the mysterious “Farm”. The final tale will follow a professional killer (Yul Vazquez – Midnight, Texas) looking for a priceless ancient tome connected with the occult.
Books of Blood is a title for six collections of short stories written by the British cult horror writer and movie director Clive Barker in mid-1980s. Godfather of the splatterpunk subgenre, Barker is by far best known for the Hellraiser and Candyman series of movies, both of which were adaptations of his works.
