During last weekend’s Comic-Con@Home, showrunners Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas presented the upcoming SyFy horror series Day of the Dead. Loosely inspired by John Romero’s classic horror movies, the series will follow six people as they struggle to survive the first 24 hours of the zombie pandemic. The cast includes Kristy Dinsmore (Vikings), Daniel Doheny (Alex Strangelove), Morgan Holmstrom (I Still See You), Natalie Malaika (The Sinners), and Keenan Tracey (Polaroid). Day of the Dead will premiere on SyFy this October.
Naturally, it wouldn’t be Comic-Con – virtual or otherwise – without panels about zombie horror series The Walking Dead. The final season of AMC’s undead juggernaut will premiere on August 22. The expanded eleventh season will consist out of 24 episodes spread over three eight-episode arcs. It will likely end sometime in 2022. As for the Walking Dead spinoffs, The Walking Dead: World Beyond will first air on October 3. According to the presentation, this will be the show’s final season. While producers claim this was the plan all along, but it would be hardly surprising if it turned out the series was canceled due to mediocre ratings. Finally, Fear the Walking Dead will return for its seventh season on October 17. And, in the case you need even more zombies, there’s also the talking show Talking Dead, in which cast and crew comment on the episode’s events.
