After five years in development hell, a reboot of the cult children’s horror series Amazing Stories will finally arrive on Apple TV+ on March 6, 2020. As AVClub reports, Apple representatives revealed the premiere date during the last weekend’s Television Critics Associate event. Additionally, Apple’s streaming service intends to release the first five episodes of the show on the same day. While we don’t know much about the show’s stories, its cast is pretty solid. It features Sasha Alexander (NCIS, Rizzoli & Isles), Kerry Bishé (Halt and Catch Fire), Josh Holloway (Lost, Colony), Dylan O’Brien (Maze Runner, Teen Wolf), Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House), and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown) in his last screen performance.
Amazing Stories was an anthology fantasy/horror series for children created and produced by Steven Spielberg. It first aired on NBC for two seasons in the mid-1980s. During its run, Amazing Stories was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards and won five. In 2015, Bryan Fuller, creator of shows like Hannibal, Dead to Me and American Gods, announced he was working on a reboot of Amazing Stories. In 2017 Apple took over the show’s production. A year later Fuller left the project, leaving viewers unsure will the reboot ever come together. Despite that, in about a month and a half, we’ll get to discover the modern version of the series that thrilled and chilled an entire generation of kids.
