Ahead of the show’s season finale, Amazon announced it renewed the adult animated superhero series Invincible. Not only that, but the show will continue for at least two more seasons!
Invincible is based on a comic book by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), with art by Cory Walker (also a co-creator) and Ryan Ottley. Published by Image Comics from 2003 until 2018, it tells a coming of age story of Mark Grayson (voiced in the show by Steven Yeun – The Walking Dead), the eldest son of the legendary superhero Omni-Man (voiced by J. K. Simmons – Whiplash). As Mark begins manifesting superpowers, his father tries to mentor him. But the world of superheroes is a bizarre and violent one.
Invincible premiered on Amazon on March 25, 2021, with an eight-episode season. The show features a ridiculously over-qualified voice cast that includes Mahershala Ali (Alita: Battle Angel), Michael Dorn (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Walton Goggins (Justified), Jonathan Groff (Mindhunters), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Jason Mantzoukas (The Good Place), Mark Hamill (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Ezra Miller (Justice League), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), and Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express).
