GeekTyrant reveals Alfred Molina, who played the supervillain Doc Octopus in the 2004 film Spider-Man 2, will return in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, set after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Next came the news other actors from previous Spider-Man movies might come back too! According to Collider, the studio is currently in talks with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Garfield portrayed Peter Parker in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man movies while Stone played Gwen Stacy. There’s also a chance Tobey Maguire might reprise his performance as Peter Parker from Sam Raimi’s films alongside Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson.
Apparently, the next Spider-Man movie should feature several iterations of the titular character and his enemies. Two months ago, Jamie Foxx signed on to reprise his role of the supervillain Electro he played in Sony’s Spider-Man movies. Marvel Cinematic Universe is introducing multiverse stories into its established continuum. Possibly the first such story will be Raimi’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. There is also a distinct possibility that the upcoming limited TV series WandaVision — focusing on Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff — will tie into this larger storyline.
We’ll have to wait and see how much of all this casting is real and how much is just wishful thinking.
