It’s rumor time!
Over the last couple of days, several actors from Marvel movies came out with interesting tidbits about the casting in Taika Waititi’s upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Previous reports said that Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy) is looking to join the cast of the film. Now Tessa Thompson (who plays Valkyre) confirmed that Academy Award-winning actor will play the lead villain. According to GeekTyrant, Thompson mentioned this during a recent promotional interview for the upcoming third season of HBO’s Westworld. Even though we don’t know yet what character Bale will be playing, this is undoubtedly a cool development.
But that’s not all!
SlashFilm reports how in an interview Vin Diesel (voice of Groot) casually mentioned Guardians of the Galaxy will feature in Thor: Love and Thunder. This does make sense: after all, Thor joined the crew at the finale of Avengers: Endgame. Additionally, due to the firing and re-hiring of James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had to be postponed until after Love and Thunder. However, the article does warn Vin Diesel could be completely wrong about this. Furthermore, fans should be aware that the appearance of the Guardians in the next Thor film may turn out to be nothing more than a glorified cameo.
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set for a release on November 5, 2021.
