Remember that trailer you saw with Kevin Spacey decked out in heavy makeup as he played J. Paul Getty in the new biopic All The Money In The World directed by Ridley Scott?
Forget you ever saw it. Just uh..wipe it from your memory. Because that’s just what they’re planning to do with Kevin Spacey in regards to the film.
Yep, according to deadline Ridley and the films production company Imperative Entertainment have decided to re-shoot parts of the already finished film…the parts that feature Spacey that is. Ol’ reliable Christorpher Plummer will take over the role of the titular billionaire. This is either the epitome of virtue-signaling or damage control of massive proportions. Probably both. The film is slated to be released in December 22 so the race is on to remove the stench of Spacey’s scandal from the film.It makes me wonder how far Hollywood will now go to distance themselves from the host of sexual assault allegations and the men who have allegedly perpetrated them. Will they retroactively go back to old films and TV shows and digitally remove or alter actors who have been accused of something heinous? Will they toss the works produced or directed by such men onto bonfires and purge them from their archives?
I said it before and I’ll say again. Stick to CGI or hand-drawn animation…save yourself some headaches.
Egads, what a mess.
