Godzilla vs. Kong Pushed to November 2020

Warner Bros. and Legendary decided to push back the release of Godzilla vs. Kong. Initially, the movie was to come out on March 13, 2020. But now, Variety reports that Godzilla vs. Kong won’t be in cinemas before November 2020.

Ever since the MonsterVerse launched in 2014, it led to the movie in which Godzilla would fight King Kong. However, plans have changed after Godzilla: King of the Monsters failed to perform as expected. Produced for roughly $200 million, the movie grossed 385,6 million worldwide, making it, at best, a mixed success. For comparison, Gareth Edward’s Godzilla earned $524 million in 2014 and Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island grossed $566 million in 2017.

Adam Wingard (You’re Next, The Guest) will direct Godzilla vs. Kong while Terry Rossio (all five of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) will pen the script. Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) will reprise their performances from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Newcomers in the cast will include Julian Dennison (Deadpool), Eiza González (Baby Driver), Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist) and Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood).
