Legendary Signs a Deal for Sin City TV Series

Legendary Television just signed a deal with the comic book author Frank Miller about producing a TV series based on his Sin City comics. Deadline adds that Robert Rodriguez, who previously directed two Sin City movies, is also in talks to join the project. Miller and Rodriguez will most likely serve as the show’s executive producers. As per the agreement, Legendary guarantees at least one season of the show once it establishes its network or streaming platform. It also plans to produce a hard-R animated Sin City prequel series.

In 2005 Robert Rodriguez adapted Frank Miller’s Sin City comics into a feature film. Rodriguez felt Miller’s visual style was so distinctive and important; he hired him as a co-director. First Sin City movie features a star-studded cast that, among others, includes Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four), Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner), Michael Madsen (The Hateful Eight), Clive Owen (Gemini Man), Mickey Rourke (The Expendables), Benicio del Toro (Sicario), Bruce Willis (Die Hard), and Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings). The movie was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. Its sequel, titled Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, came out in 2014.

Dark Horse Comics first published Sin City in 1991. Created, written, and illustrated by Frank Miller, this hard-boiled neo-noir comic book consists out of stand-alone stories set within the titular city.
