Variety reports that Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049, Terminator: Dark Fate) and Himesh Patel (Yesterday, The Aeronauts) joined the cast of HBO Max’s TV series Station Eleven. This post-apocalyptic story takes place in a world where a devastating pandemic wiped out most of humanity. Its timeline simultaneously takes place both in the ravaged future and in during the chaotic months of the pandemic. Davis will portray Kirsten, a survivor of the epidemic traveling through the desolate countryside with a nomadic group of actors. Patel will play Jeevan, an unemployed nobody who experiences the epidemic first-hand and is forced by circumstances into becoming a leader.
Station Eleven is an adaptation of the award-winning science fiction novel by Emily St. John Mandel, first published in 2014. HBO Max hired writer and producer Patrick Somerville (Maniac, The Leftovers, The Bridge) to adapt the novel and serve as showrunner. Hiro Murai (Atlanta) will direct. Station Eleven will be a limited series consisting of ten episodes. It will air in spring 2020.
