Jordan Peele, Academy-award winning writer and director of horror movie Get Out, has just signed an exclusive five-year contract with Universal. According to the GeekTyrant, Peele will write, direct, and produce his next two feature films for Universal.
Even before this deal, Peele was already working on a reboot of Universal’s 1992 cult horror movie Candyman. Co-produced through his production company Monkeypaw, Candyman remake will be co-written by Win Rosenfeld and directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods). Candyman remake will come out on June 12th, 2020.
It’s been a busy year for Peele, a former member of the sketch comedy duo Key & Peele. Besides releasing his latest film Us in March, Peele has been also working on a new Twilight Zone reboot for CBS All Access, as well as co-creating comedy shows The Last O.G. (for TBS) and Weird City (for YouTube Premium). Last year, Peele also began working on the HBO series Lovecraft Country written by Misha Green (Underground) as well as on Amazon’s series The Hunt about a group of Nazi hunters in the 1970s New York.
