During the press preview for the Universal Studios Halloween Haunt, Jason Reitman revealed additional details regarding the upcoming Ghostbusters 2020. According to him, Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) will portray a seismologist who moves to a small town and works at the local school while investigating unusual earthquakes threatening this rural area. Dan Aykroyd, who was also present at the event, added how Reitman’s movie is a family story that will try to give Ghostbusters to the current generation. Fans speculate this means that Ghostbusters 2020 will probably revolve around the family of Egon Spengler, played in the first two films by the late Harold Ramis (Caddyshack, Groundhog Day).
In January 2019, we reported that Sony is working on a new Ghostbusters sequel helmed by the director Jasin Reitman (Juno, Thank You for Smoking, Young Adult). Reitman is also co-writing the script alongside director Gil Kenan (Monster House). Cast will most likely feature actors from the first two movies, including Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver. As for newcomers, so far they include Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Mckenna Grace (I, Tonya) Logan Kim, Celeste O’Connor and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things).
Ghostbusters 2020 arrives in cinemas on July 10th, 2020.
