HBO isn’t ready to give up on that sweet, sweet Game of Thrones cash and honestly, who could blame them? Entertainment Weekly reports that HBO is getting ready to order a pilot for the second prequel series set in the world of Westeros. The prequel will take place during the civil war known as Dance of Dragons in which warring factions of the Targaryen dynasty battled for dominance with armies and dragons.
George R. R. Martin himself is fond of this idea, ever since he published Fire and Blood, a chronicle of the Targaryen dynasty. Martin’s book would serve as a basis for the show, with a pilot script written by Ryan J. Condal (Hercules, Rampage, TV series Colony).
Back in March 2018, we reported that HBO is working on new shows set in the world of Game of Thrones. Several months later, HBO officially ordered a pilot for the first prequel series from the screenwriter Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service). That prequel series is set thousands of years ago and follows the first invasion of the Cold Walkers during the Long Night.
