J.K. Simmons in Negotiations to be in “Ghost Draft”

The upcoming sci-fi thriller, Ghost Draft, may soon have some additional talent in J. K. Simmons.

Currently Simmons is in negotiations to join the projects. Betty Gilpin (from Netflix GLOW) is also currently being considered for a role as the September start for film production draws near. A good bit of the details regarding characters and their involvement in plot have been kept very close to the chest.

From what sources indicate, the plot revolves around a future where humanity is losing a war: a war against aliens. In order to attempt to make a stand and step up, scientists begin to draft soldiers from the past to fight the war. Thus far, Zach Dean and Bill Dubuque have written drafts for the film.

Simmons is a talented actor with many notable credits to his name, including an Oscar win for his role as the insatiable music instructor in the indie film Whiplash. In addition to his big screen roles, he has recently spent time in the world of television playing various recurring roles. He has maintained roles in Veronica Mars on Hulu, IFC’s Brockmire, as well as The Counterpart on Starz.

While his role may be limited to that of Pratt’s father in the film, J.K. Simmons’ character’s tend to push the limits and be memorable even in supporting roles.

Ghost Draft is slated to be executive produced by Rob Cowen, and under the reign of Chris McKay, director of The Lego Batman Movie.
