I managed to make it through season one of the OA. I’m not exactly sure how I did it but I did. Looking back, it seems like the kind of show someone like Marianne Williamson would
have dreamt up in a fever dream, though I suspect in her version there would be a great deal more self-flagellation from the protagonists. The show featuring a blind chick (Prairie Johnson) who went missing and then was returned with not only her sight back, but with mysterious powers to boot was intriguing at first. But as the episodes eked on it drifted further and further into ponderous pap. By the time the show revealed “magical dance movements” you found yourself wondering if perhaps you had unintentionally stumbled across some elaborate practical joke.
I contemplated attempting to watch the second season but apparently that call-to-action never manifested internally because It never happened. I suspect in that regard I wasn’t alone. Which brings us to the news…
Netflix has opted not to renew the series for a third season.

This is not surprising, Netflix seems to be realizing that dumping any-old-thing onto the public espousing any-old-agenda doesn’t necessarily amount to a return on investment. Netflix has already established a nasty reputation of being the ‘woke’ platform where you can’t flip past two thumbnails without coming across a series or film that doesn’t feature far left propaganda. There will always be a few around people who will gobble up whatever garbage is squirted before them but in a business model that is dependent on continued growth a few people isn’t going to keep the investors happy.
And no amount of magical dance movements is going to change that fact.
