SyFy Orders Comic Book Show Produced by Russo Brothers
SyFy ordered the pilot episode of a new comic book show produced by Russo brothers, reports Deadline. Inspired by the 1980es counter-culture, Deadly Class is a story of Marcus Lopez, a troubled teenager who ends up in a secret high school for assassins, most of whom are children of mass murderers or gangsters. Published by Image Comics since 2014, Deadly Class is written by Rick Remender and illustrated by Wesley Craig.
This is just one of several pilots ordered by SyFy, with others being sci-fi horror show Nightflyers (based on a novella by George R.R. Martin), Tremors (based on the cult 1990 horror comedy) and The Purge (based on a James DeMonaco’s series of dystopian horror movies).
Joe and Anthony Russo started their careers in 2002 with a quirky low-budget comedy Welcome to Collingwood. They went on to direct some of the best episodes of cult sitcoms like Arrested Development and Community. What truly brought them fame though was their work on the 2014 superhero blockbuster Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Russo brothers will also direct the next two Avengers movies.
